As much as possible, make a priority column in your list which classifies your basic and daily needs such as toiletries, underwear and your hygiene kit. You can carry the list with you as you travel and make this as a reference when checking as you unpack your things.
2 Know your Destination
In sorting your clothes, you must be aware to what climate you are dealing with. This way, you can visualize to what clothes you will bring. In warm countries, you can bring shorts and bikinis instead of thick jackets and bulky clothing.

3 Roll, do not fold
Roll your clothes like wine bottles rather than folding it. This maximizes the space in your suitcase which allows you to add more things that you’ll need. This also minimizes the formation of wrinkles and fold creases on your clothes.
4 Do the First In, First Out method
This method often applies to business and selling, but this is also very effective when you’re traveling. The first in, first out method is basically when you place things you use more often in a more accessible place of your lightweight suitcases or at the top layer of your pile of clothes, and the things you least use at the bottom. This method allows you to conserve time of looking for your things and lessen the incident of destroying the arrangement of your clothes.
5 Separate your Valuables
All your cash, credit cards, visa, passports and tickets should be places in a separate bag. NEVER place them in one bag. In case you do get robbed, at least you won't be strapped for cash. You will never know when bad luck shows up.
6 Bring Plastic Bags
Plastic bags are very handy when traveling and packing. If you want to make sure everything else in your bags stays clean and odor free, plastic bags help in containing your shoes and used clothes’ odor.
7 Use 100ml bottles the most
In bringing shampoos and lotions, use small, leak-proof bottles to minimize the hassle in carrying. You don’t have to carry the whole bottle of shampoo or lotion. These items can easily be bought anywhere.
8 Separate Clothes when Traveling with others
When you’re with your travel buddy, divide the clothes between different suitcases/backpacks/bags etc. This way, you have clean clothes available when one of you lost your suitcase. Lost luggage is not usually recovered within 24-48hours so this will help save money from buying clothes for you to wear.
In order to maximize the space of your light weight suitcases, you should carefully plan what should be loaded in your suitcase. Make sure that each item has a purpose in your travel.
