How to Grow Cannabis Indoors
Marijuana is an amazing plant. It can grow in almost any climate anywhere in the world and there are hundreds of different strains to choose from. The main challenge about growing your own cannabis is protecting your crop from scavengers and providing adequate light and warmth. To successfully grow your own crop, you need to decide whether it will be indoors or outdoors. For indoor growing, you have to decide what amount of time you can dedicate to your crops and whether you will be growing a small crop for personal medicinal use or you are targeting a sizeable commercial harvest.
Where to Grow
Once you make up your mind about growing your crop indoors, you need to find the perfect place. You will need a well ventilated room that does not experience too much wind and does not have too many windows. You will need some fertile soil, a good source of light, and water. For the simplest of setups, you can choose to grow in your closet. Fix one or two fluorescent lamps for light, keep the closet doors closed, and grow your seed in well moisturized soil in pots. If you have the time and the funds, you can add specialized fertilizers and other nutrients, filters, cropping, advanced nutrient systems, and advanced lighting systems. Aeroponic and hydroponic propagation are other advanced growing methods to consider.
What to Grow
As mentioned, there are hundreds of different marijuana genetic variants. You can simply purchase a bag of weed from your local source and pick out the seeds for cultivation. On the other hand, you can buy your seeds from a reputable source, a seed shop, or even ask a fellow grower to help you with some. Depending on your taste and needs, you can choose either indica or sativa strains. Seed shops will also have options for regular seeds and feminized seeds. You do not want male plants as first, they do not produce any harvestable weed. Secondly, they will fertilize our female plants.
When to Harvest
Unlike outdoor plants, you have full control of your weed’s environment. Thus, learning how to grow weed indoors allows you to germinate your seeds and plant them at any time. However, there is extensive debate about when you should harvest. A large number of growers prefer to harvest when at least half the trichomes have transformed into an amber color. Avoid harvesting too late as this will result in oxidized THC and this can make you feel nauseated when you smoke it.
Growing weed indoors allows you to control the environment and protect your crop from thieves and nosy neighbors.
